Think about either your advert or street photos (or both) how did you try to follow professional practice with your images?

I thought my advert was crafted well in the end. The process was fine for me as I took basic shots of the  advert product, sneakers, trying different angles and persecptives. an example of this was hanging the sneakers from The Balcony staircase in South East Building and it looked visual interesting as a photos shots. Then I use photoshop to change the background of the photo and added in the logos & theme of my product and logos of DC Comics, Warner Bros & Converse for copyright purposes.
I didn't need model release forms because I didn't have models in the shoot. I used a picture from Google Images, to use as a background for the advert, which was under no ownership to anyone. I was taking photos in a public area even thought there were people around I didn't close the area off but I waited for people to walk past to not interrupt the photo session.

The street photos came out great. It was a refreshing experience to go to a public place and work with a  few class mates as a team to take a variety of photos  that shows people, objects & actions. I tried to make a photograph using objects, people & actions in Old Portsmouth, on Southsea Common and at Gunwharft Quays. After that we upload those photos on to our blogs. I didn't need model release forms because I only took photos of my class mates that were part of this assignment. Even though we took photos in public areas we didn't need to ask permission because there were no private establishments that require it. Furthermore, there were no members of the public in the images so no permissions were needed.

What was the hardest thing about completing the photos?

Honestly I personally don't think there was anything hard. although there was the confusing process of silhouette photo design on photoshop.


What skills did you develop in this assignment?

I develop my photographic skills: rule of three, negative space, lighting & composition.
Also my Photoshop skills: green screen, Jasper James technique and crafting advert.

These photos are about someone who has a desire for the object that they want. The top photo show the subject looking down at chocolate in a claw machine with his hand on the glass. The other photo is similar to top photo but this person has a desire for watches outside the jewelry shop. Both subjects are on the right side, one shows his head to shoulder shot with his hand on the glass this can show desire. In the other photo the subject’s body language show her shoulders slumped suggesting her desire. In mine I use bright colours as negative space and in the other photo the photographer uses darker colours in the negative space. To achieve this the photographer may have used a filter or particular lighting to achieve a particular atmosphere. The colours in both images help divide the frame into thirds. The photo of the person who has desire for watches is looking at them because she can’t afford them, the other photo of the person who desire for chocolate is looking at it because he just can’t get it



If you were to do this again (advert or street photos) what would you do differently?


Honestly I think there nothing I will do differently, I think my photographic work came out well.
I thought my photo with the person who a desire for chocolate in a claw machine was great idea because the fact is the person is 17 years old acting childish over a bar of chocolate is silly and humorous. the colours I chose were bright saturated colours making for a more amusing picture.





    

Old Portsmouth + Risk Assessment

Old Portsmouth

In 1704 royal permission was given for people to build houses near to the dockyard and so a new suburb called Portsmouth Common grew, this changed its name to Portsea in 1792. This new suburb soon outgrew the original town, which became known as Old Portsmouth. The area called Old Portsmouth is located on the south western tip of the island.

The area of Old Portsmouth is also known as Spice Island which is where all the spices used to enter the city.

Old Portsmouth attractions: Square Tower, Portsmouth Sailing Club, Spice Island Inn, Garrison's Church, Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral, Camber Wines, Southsea Common, Clarence Pier fun fair & Viviers (UK).

Square Tower: Built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII. It was past of the fortifications to protect the harbor and also home to the Governor of Portsmouth. It is now used to stage plays, live music, venue for wedding and business meeting. It would make a good photo because of the architecture, it is unusual as it is historic, particularly on the inside with the domed brick ceiling.

 

Clarence Pier is an amusement pier in Portsmouth, Hampshire. It is located by the Portsmouth Hovercraft terminal. Unlike most seaside piers in the UK, the pier does not extend very far out to sea, instead goes along the coast.
Everyone likes the Ferris wheel as it is an easily recognized ride. I like the colorful pods to sit in, all the colors are like a rainbow. I also like the metal struts in blue and white making a circle. I like that it is taken at an angle rather than straight on.

I like the blue and yellow tower as it is very colorful and as it the entrance to the fun fair. It is an iconic landmark picture of Portsmouth.

Arcades are full of bright electronic, saturated colors like red, blue and other colors. I like the angle that the photo is taken from and I like the way the lights stand out against the carpet.
